One quick point of clarification - eXoPlatform is a separate, partner company; not "one of Google's companies." Also - you mentioned that DevFest "wasn't as successful as expected" - as who expected? From our perspective, DevFest was most definitely as successful as we could expect. It's always a challenge to put these events on, but the fact that we: had 200+ developers show up, got to see local lightning talks, got to present on 3 different web-based technologies, and got to hang out with the audience more than made it a success. The biggest hiccups we had were intermittent wifi issues (which we have little control over) and language issues (which we need to do a better job of for next time). The biggest indicator of success is that other local developers took the initiative with very little help from Google to put on a community driven event around a community driven spec (OpenSocial).
